This issue contains information regarding AKC Club Membership List Upload Tool, televised events, and new program survey information. As always, we have explained recent rule changes and included some friendly reminders.

|The AKC Needs Your Club's Feedback! |
|Attention club secretaries: Please remember to complete the survey that was emailed to you regarding our new events (AKC National Owner-Handler Series, 4 to 6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition, and AKC Open Show). |Club Membership List Upload Tool |
|AKC's Board of Directors has extended the deadline to submit membership lists using the Club Membership List Upload Tool to July 1, 2013. After the deadline, a $50 processing fee will be charged to clubs for membership lists not submitted via the Club Membership List Upload Tool. |
Your club's membership list will only be used by AKC to conduct AKC business relating to events, club relations, legislation, and other outreach by AKC to its affiliated club members. The names and email addresses on the list will not be provided to government agencies or sold to third parties. After submission of the club's membership list using the Club Membership List Upload Tool, your club officers will receive an email from the AKC confirming the submission of the list.
|Friendly Reminders |
|In the rush to complete event registrations, submit applications, judging panels, and show results, or deal with the multitude of issues that are involved with hosting an event, it is easy to forget a few things. Below are some friendly reminders regarding some common misunderstandings or misconceptions that the Event Operations department sees on a regular basis. |
|• ||Clubs needing an ID & Password to manage their events using Online Event Management should email email@example.com. This information can only be issued to a club officer. |
|• ||AKC defines club officers as: President, Vice President, Secretary (Recording & Corresponding), Treasurer, and Delegate, if a member club. |
|• ||To add a 4–6 Month Beginner Puppy competition to your event, clubs must complete pages 2 & 5 of the Show/Trial Application. |

|Televised & Live Streamed Events |
|Clubs that have commercial filming or live streaming events must have a contract with AKC involvement. Please see the AKC Board Policy regarding commercial filming at events. |
|Changes to Rules Applying to Dog Shows |
|Chapter 3, Section 16 Effective: July 3, 2012 |
A Reserve Best in Show must also be offered by any club giving group classes. The Reserve Best in Show winner will be chosen by the same judge that has been assigned Best in Show from the remaining group winners in the ring after awarding Best in Show.
|Chapter 4, Section 1 Effective: July 3, 2012 |
Reserve Best in Show judge is the same judge as for Best in Show. The name and address of this person must be submitted to The American Kennel Club at least eighteen (18) weeks prior to the closing of the event.
|Chapter 5, Section 1 Effective: July 3, 2012 |
The Reserve Best in Show ribbon/rosette may be any unassigned color or combination of colors.
|Chapter 5, Section 7 Effective: July 3, 2012 |
A prize at an all-breed show may be offered for outright award to the recipient of Reserve Best in Show.
|Chapter 6, Section 2A Effective: July 3, 2012 |
The prize and/or trophy offered for Reserve Best in Show must be included in the condensed premium list.
|Chapter 7, Section 13 Effective: July 3, 2012 |
Judges are limited to judging 175 entries in one day unless they are judging a specialty, in which case they may be assigned a maximum of 200 entries. If the specialty is held as part of an all-breed show the increased limit only applies if the judge is not assigned any other breed, a Group or Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show.
|Chapter 7, Section 19 Effective: July 3, 2012 |
Only one judge shall select the Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show. Additionally, the AKC Board of Directors suggests that whenever possible the Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show be determined by one who has not already judged any breed or group at that event.
|Chapter 10 Effective: January 1, 2012 |
Clarifications were made to this chapter to update the requirements for show veterinarians to better accommodate on-call veterinarians and to require clubs to inform them of their duties.
