Junior Biography
by Rebecca J. McDaniel

I have been showing dogs ever since I could walk. I have always enjoyed showing and spending time with dogs. My mom and I raise Australian Shepherds and we have a few Cardigan Welsh Corgis.

I started Juniors when I was 3, because at the Australian Shepherd Club of America shows they have a Peewee division. Then I showed in Juniors in AKC when I was ten. I did this for a short time, but then I was ready to start in Agility. I showed my Cardigan Welsh Corgi “Trooper” to the excellent level. I later trained some of our Aussies in agility, and they did quite well. Trooper and I also did some herding, and we got our CDX a few years ago. I am now working him in Utility, and hope to show him soon. One of my latest accomplishments and a dream come true, was when I won a BEST IN SHOW with my Aussie Razz! Razz is also the first red tri Australian Shepherd to ever receive a BIS. Although I am not a junior anymore, I often watch the classes. The competition is growing, and more kids are getting involved with the dog world. I have seen an increase in Agility and Obedience too.

Even though I will be going to school full time, I still plan on being involved in the dog world. Trooper is almost ready for Utility, and my two Aussies Razz and Brett are almost ready for Novice Agility. I also have a new Cardigan puppy who will be working towards his championship. I am also still involved in our local dog club, BCKC, and the Gateway Aussie Club.

Being a part of the dog world is part of my life, and that will never change. I love having my dogs, and I love the challenge of competition. The dog world has something for everyone, young or old. I want to be the best owner handler that I can be, and I would love to go to Westminster and Crufts some day.
