2006 Junior Showmanship Clinic
Tampa, Florida will once again be the place to be for all Juniors on July 29, 2006 for a full day of fun and education about all aspects of Junior Showmanship! This clinic is open free of charge to all Florida youth ages 8-18, and they are invited to participate with their dogs.
Clinic participants will be grouped by age & experience level, and will rotate between groups of instructors. The Clinic agenda will include one on one instruction from AKC Judges on what judges look for in Junior Showmanship, and common mistakes to avoid in Showmanship. AKC Professional Handlers will instruct proper presentation of dogs in the show ring, and ring generalship. Former AKC Junior Handlers will give instruction on how to perform showmanship patterns, good sportsmanship and showing with a winning attitude. Instruction will also be offered on grooming for the show ring, and how to "Dress For Success." Information booths will have handouts covering topics such as AKC Junior Showmanship rules and regulations, AKC Companion events, AKC Canine Good Citizen program, Pet Health & Safety, and How To Prepare for dog shows. At the conclusion of the Clinic participants will compete in Show classes, and a winner will be named from each group to compete in the final- Best Junior Handler Class.
