| Bella and Me by Kayla Kurtz I want to tell you about my dog Bella Rose of Greenup. Bella is a Shetland Sheepdog. She is a wonderful pet and a great agility partner. Bella is a Sable Sheltie. She always has a smile on her face and makes me happy. When Bella was about 8 months old we started taking agility lessons at the Kentucky Humane Society in Louisville, Kentucky. I was 10 years old when Bella and I started training. Agility was fun from the start. Bella had no problem learning the obstacles. The obstacles are the A-frame, walk-it, and the teeter. Bella loves the tunnel. My trainer, Terry Van Hook doesn't let puppies go over jumps full height until they are 12 months old. You could damage their growth plates. I use a lot of treats and praise when I train Bella. It took a lot of practice to be able to compete in AKC Agility. Agility is a fun sport for Bella and me. We just received our Novice Jumpers with Weaves Title. I hope one day to be competing in the Nationals on TV with Bella. ![]() |
