My name is Ashley Neil, and when I was five, I wanted to show dogs, so my mom and I went to a dog show to look at the different dogs. I decided I wanted a long-haired Chihuahua. When I got my dog, I named him Snoopy. I met Don and Roberta Chowning, and they were willing to show me how to train Snoopy to do AKC obedience events. Each day, I spend an hour training Snoopy how to sit, stay, stand, and heel on and off lead. I enjoyed learning what it takes to train a dog for AKC obedience shows. Competing in obedience taught me how to be patient with and how to have love and respect for Snoopy. I would recommend any kids to try AKC obedience events. They are a great way to have fun and learn about dogs.
