AKC/Eukanuba National Championship
The preliminary classes were judged by Miss Emily Bisso and Mr. Tyler Cegler, both prior competitors at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship as well as prior AKC Scholarship recipients. Both judges handled the large preliminary classes like veterans, making cuts and working the groups to three finalists from each preliminary class. Congratulations to the 12 finalists: CT Giese, Abby Rekuc, Katie Mazurowski, Alexis Parisek, Brooke Bigley, Anna Gilles, Travis Cramsey, Shannon Weiss, Lauren Wickwire, Mallory Ross, Ryan Zienert, and Allison Kirk.
Ms. Bonnie Threlfall judged the finals on Saturday night awarding first place to Katie Mazurowski, who will represent the United States at the International Junior Competition at Crufts, second to Mallory Ross, third place to CT Giese, and 4th to Abby Rekuc.
AKC National Agility Invitational
In addition to the 134 Juniors that were entered to compete in the Junior Showmanship there were 8 Juniors entered in the Agility Invitational. A new award was initiated at this event, the High Jr. Handler Award, a total score of all runs throughout the competition. This years winner was Gideon Hinman, handling his 9 year old Alaskan Malamute, "Lia" CH MACH Articdawn's East of Atka UD, from Michigan.
Also competing were Casey Evans, with Scottish Terrier, "Jasmine" Jasmine VII AX AXJ NGF; Danielle Scott with Cocker Spaniel "Silk" MACH 3 Skyrockets Rise and Shine XF; Amanda Prince with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel "Rogan" MACH Rogan OF; and Stefanie Ranier with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Rigal CH MACH2 Piccadil's Bright Start RE TQX.
