Happy New Year!!
The first time competition for Juniors in Obedience and Agility was met with overwhelming enthusiasm. The results of all the classes are posted with photos within the Newsletter. Congratulations to Katherine Spencer who successfully competed in all three events. Ten other Juniors entered two events, five in Obedience and Agility and five in Obedience and Junior Showmanship. Our staff realizes there were conflicts with both competitions, as well as breed judging, and we are reviewing what can be done for next year. I have already been advised that the ring space for Junior Showmanship will be larger in 2012.
Congratulations to Emma Echols, the winner of the AKC Junior Showmanship Competition, who will now represent the AKC at Crufts in the International Competition.
The list of the finalists and coverage of the Junior Showmanship Competition can be found within this issue.
The new Master Class became effective January 1, 2012. We have received mixed comments in regards to this class competition and are interested in your opinions as the year progresses.
The AKC Junior Scholarship Application has been posted for the 2012 selection.
We look forward to continuing to expand our outreach and work with the Companion Events Department to expand the recognition of Juniors competing in these events.
Should you have any comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
All the best for the New Year! |
