In December, the American Kennel Club® (AKC) honored the Concho Kennel Club, Council Bluffs Kennel Club and Savannah Kennel Club with Community Achievement Awards for their outstanding 2011 Responsible Dog Ownership Day (RDO Day) events. The AKC grants Community Achievement Awards four times per year to honor exemplary public education and canine legislation efforts by AKC-affiliated clubs, AKC-recognized federations and their members. For the fourth quarter awards only, clubs and eligible organizations that hold AKC RDO Day event in their communities are eligible for nomination. In order to qualify for the fourth quarter award, the club must hold its RDO Day event in the month of September. Nominations for AKC Community Achievement Awards for the first, second and third quarters are accepted year-round. Honorees receive a certificate of appreciation and their club or federation receives a check for $1,000 to support ongoing community activities. If you’ve submitted a nomination in the past, please send an update about your organization’s recent and current activities. New information will be added to the nomination previously received and will be considered each quarter. Click here for information about AKC Community Achievement Awards and a nomination form. |
