In conjunction with their October 2007 Field Trial the Lake Superior Beagle Club held a raffle on Oct. 7, 2007 for 2-year-old Maddy Laux, who is suffering from a childhood cancer called neuroblastoma. This raffle was sponsored by the club and netted a sum of $3,472 to help Maddy's family with expenses.
She is the daughter of Steve & Brenda Laux, members of the Lake Superior Beagle Club. Maddy had just arrived home a week ago following treatment and an extensive stay in The Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
All of the clubs in the Northern Michigan Hare Association have taken part in this fundraiser. It has been ongoing in all of the fall trials in their association.
