Eligible Breeds
All dogs six months of age or older from the following breeds are eligible to participate in Pointing Breed Hunting Tests:
AKC Recognized Breeds
- Brittanys
- Pointers
- English Setters
- German Shorthaired Pointers
- German Wirehaired Pointers
- Gordon Setters
- Irish Red & White Setters (effective 1/1/09) (click for breed article)

- Spinone Italiano
- Vizslas
- Weimaraners
- Wirehaired Pointing Griffons
*Foundation Stock Service Breeds
- Bracco Italiano (effective 1/1/10)
- Braque du Bourbonnais (effective 1/1/12)
- Drentsche Patrijshond (Drent)(effective 1/1/11)
- French Spaniel (effective 10/1/12)
- Portuguese Pointer (effective 1/1/08)
- Small Munsterlander Pointer (effective 7/1/09)
- Wirehaired Vizsla (effective 1/1/09)
- German Longhaired Pointer (effective 7/1/11)
- Stabyhoun (effective 7/1/11)
*may compete for suffix titles only
- Dogs of these breeds recorded with the Purebred Alternative Listing Program/Indefinite Listing Privilege (PAL/ILP) or dogs with Conditional registration are eligible to participate.
- Spayed and neutered dogs are eligible to participate.
- Bitches in season are eligible to participate at the club’s discretion, in accordance with the rules, and must be stated in the premium list.
- Dogs with Limited Registration are eligible to participate.
