What can I use my certificate for? Can I use it toward my puppy's first shots, flea control and heartworm preventative? Answer: The certificate may only be redeemed for the first office visit (also referred to as the exam fee). It cannot be used for vaccinations, medications, X-rays or procedures.

How do I use the certificate? Answer: Print the e-mail file and cut out or tear off the certificate at the top of the page. Once you locate a veterinary practice that participates in the network, call and make an appointment. Please refer to the certificate when you make your appointment. When you arrive for your appointment, you should present the certificate before your puppy's examination.

There are no veterinarians listed in my area. Can I still use my certificate at a local veterinary practice? Answer: The certificate is only good at practices that participate in the AKC Veterinary Network. New practices are signing up every day so keep checking the website. You can also encourage your local veterinarians to enlist in the AKC Veterinary Network, which provides many positive benefits for them and their clients. Ask them to call 919-233-9767, e-mail vetnetwork@akc.org or go to the website at www.akc.org/vetnet/ for more information.

I am already a client of a veterinary practice, but it isn't on the AKC Veterinary Network list. Answer: You can tell your veterinarian about the benefits of belonging to the AKC Veterinary Network, including receiving many complimentary educational materials for staff and clients and the latest information on canine health research from AKC. It is very easy to enroll. Practices may sign up online at www.akc.org/vetnet/ or may call 919-233-9767. Veterinarians' contact information also will appear on the AKC website, which is viewed by more than a million users each month.

I already took my puppy to the veterinarian. Can I give the certificate to a friend or use it for one of my other dogs? Answer: The certificates are issued only for the puppy that was registered. Certificates are printed with the puppy's registered name, registration number, sex and color of that specific dog. The certificates cannot be used for any other dog.

I registered my puppy recently, but I have not received a certificate. Answer: You must provide a valid e-mail address in order to receive a certificate. The certificates are e-mailed within two business days of the puppy's registration. If you provided an e-mail address and have not received your certificate, please call Customer Service at 919-233-9767 so they can re-issue the certificate. Certificates may be re-issued as long as it is within 60 days of the issue of the registration certificate.

If you provided an e-mail address and have not received a certificate, you may have requested AKC remove you from our mailing lists. AKC does not send e-mail to customers with that request. If you have registered a dog within 60 days and would like a certificate, call Customer Service at 919-233-9767.

I am having technical difficulties with my computer and/or printer. How do I retrieve my certificate? Answer: Unfortunately, AKC cannot mail paper certificates at this time. If your computer is down, please contact Customer Service and ask them to re-issue the certificate to a different e-mail address perhaps your veterinarian or a friend who can print it for you. If your printer is broken, we suggest that you e-mail the certificate to your veterinarian's office so they can retrieve it before your appointment. Please contact your veterinarian before sending the e-mail.

How long do I have to use the certificate? Answer: You may redeem your certificate for 60 days from the date that your puppy's registration number is issued. The expiration date will appear on the certificate.

What are other benefits of registering my puppy with AKC? Answer: AKC has arranged a special Complimentary 60-Day Trial Pet Healthcare Plan* as a benefit of registration. I received my e-certificate via e-mail but am unable to view or print the certificate. Answer: Check to ensure that you are viewing your e-mail in HTML format. The certificate will not be legible if your e-mail format is set to rich or plain text. To change your e-mail format in MS Outlook, select the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.

In the Compose in this message format list, select HTML format.
